FAQ

How do I register?

You have 3 easy ways to register--

Mail in your paper registration form to the Kettle Moraine YMCA at 1111 W. Washington St.  West Bend, WI  53095  (paper registration forms will be available soon)

Drop off your paper registration at the front desk of the Kettle Moraine YMCA at your next visit!

Are the bike and run courses on open courses? 

Yes, the bike and run courses will be held on open roads.  All participants must follow the rules of the road.  I-pods or other devices that could interfere with a participants ability to hear traffic or other participants will NOT be allowed.

Are Wetsuits and Swim caps allowed?

Wetsuits are allowed.  Swim caps are required and will be provided to participants.  Participants' swim caps will be color coded to match their waves.

What is a Time Trial Start?

A time trial start is one in which the participants enter the water one at a time within about 5 seconds of the swimmer in front of them.  This creates a much more controlled start to the race.  Our participants LOVED this type of start!  Please note, we will have 2 Elite Waves--one male and one female.  Elite waves will be the first waves to enter the water and WILL NOT start use the Time Trial Start.

Can I register the day of the event?

Same day registration is not allowed.

Can I pick up someone else's packet at packet pick-up?

Yes, please bring their name and date of birth.

When is Packet Pick-up?

Packet pick-up will  be held on Friday August 24 2012 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Lakeview Park. Packets can also be picked up the morning of the event between 6:00a.m. and 7:15a.m. 

Where is Packet Pick-up?

Packet Pick-up on Friday August 24th at the starting line in Lakeview Park in Random Lake from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

Can I set up my equipment the night before the race?

No.  We cannot guarantee the safety of your equipment until the morning of the race.  The transition area will be ready by 5:30a.m. for you to set up.

Where can I Park?

Can we bring dogs or other pets?

No animals are allowed in the park or on the course.  However, flys and mosquitos do live at the park and have brought their friends.  PLEASE bring your bug spray!

Where do I go once I get to Lakeview Park?

Timing chip pick-up and Body Marking will be at shelter.  After picking up your chip, you can proceed to the transition area which is located near the shelter.

Will there be bike assistance on the course?

There will be NO bike pumps, extra tubes, etc. available out on the course.   Please make sure your bike is "Race Ready".

I am coming from out-of-state.  Any suggestions on where I can ship my bike?

Pedal Moraine has agreed to serve in this capacity for our out-of-state participants.  Please contact Mark at (262) 338-2453

Are bike helmets required?

Yes

I am no longer able to participate.  How do I get a refund of my registration fee?

No  refunds will be provided.  A request to transfer registration to another individual will be considered on a case by case basis.  Please contact msimon@councilonaoda.org 

How do I get to Lakeview Park?

Random Lake is only approximately 45 minutes north of Milwaukee and about 15-20 minutes from West Bend, Sheboygan and Port Washington!

From the North or Appleton:

Hwy 41 South to WI Hwy 28 East.  East on Hwy 28 to Hwy 144 North.  North on Hwy 144 to Cty Hwy I.  Turn right on Hwy I to the first left which is Co. Hwy II.  Turn left and proceed approximately 1 mile to the third right onto Butler St.  The park will be on the left.  

From the City of West Bend:

North on Hwy 144 to Cty Hwy I.  Turn right on Cty Hwy I to the first left which is Co. Hwy II.  Turn left and proceed approximately 1 mile to the third right onto Butler St.   The park will be on the left.

From the Milwaukee Area:

US Hwy 43 North .  Take a slight left on to WI Hwy 57 (signs to Plymouth).  Follow this for approximately 10 miles to Cty Rd K.  Turn Left.  Go approximately 1 miles to Butler St. and turn right.  The park will be on the right.
