FAQ

How do I register?

You have 3 easy ways to register:

Online registration is available through active.com.  Just click on this link to register:  http://www.active.com/running/west-bend-wi/eisenbahn-marathon-and-half-marathon-2011

Use the paper registration form and mail it to the Kettle Moraine YMCA at 1111 W. Washington St.  West Bend, WI  53095

Drop your paper registration form off at the front desk at your next visit to the Kettle Moraine YMCA!

What are the race start times?

The Marathon will start at 6:00a.m.  The half-marathon will begin at 7:00am.

How long will the course be open?

6 hours

Is there a minimum age to participate?

Participants must be at least 16 years of age to participate.

Where do I park?

Parking will be at the Kuester Island Parking Lot.  Directions to this lot are HWY 33 to Main Street in West Bend.  Go North on Main Street for  1/2 mile.  The Parking Lot is on the EAST side of Main Street.  Overflow parking will be at Regner Park which is located across the street from Kuester Island Parking at 800 North Main Street.  There is NO parking available at the start lines.  Please do not plan to park vehicles at the start lines for either event.

Where will the busses be leaving from?

Busses will leave the YMCA River Shores located at 705 Village Green Way, Suite 201--an easy walk from where you will be parking your car.  Busses will leave at 4:45a.m. for ALL MARATHON participants and at 6:00a.m. for ALL HALF marathon participants.  We will have a volunteer on the bus to make sure the bus driver knows where they are going!  (I told you we listened to you!)  Visit www.kmymca.org for a map and directions to the YMCA River Shores.

What if I oversleep and miss the bus?

If you miss the bus, you will need to arrange your own drop-off at your respective start line as there is no parking available at the starting lines. 

How many aid and water stations will be available?

There will be 15 aid stations stocked with water and Powerade (Fruit Punch and Mountain Blast).  Port-a-potties will also be available along the course.   Runners that need medical attention can stop at Aid Stations for help.  Trained medical professionals will be available.  Gu energy packs will be available at Water Station #11.

Where/ when do I pick up my race packet and will there be course talks?

Packet Pick-up, including bib numbers and timing chips,  will be on Saturday June 9, 2012 from 2:00pm-8:00pm at the Kettle Moraine YMCA at River Shores 705 Village Green Way For directions please visit the Kettle Moraine YMCA website at www.kmymca.org.   There will be limited packet pick-up available at the bus pick-up area on Sunday.   

Can someone else pick up my packet if I can't make it?

Yes, please have them bring your name and date of birth

Will there be Course Talks?:

Yes, course talks will be held at Packet Pick-up.   Valuable information will be shared so please make sure you try to attend!

I registered but am no longer able to participate.  How do I get a refund?

Registration fees are not refundable.  Transferring your registration to another individual may be considered on a case by case basis.  Please contact msimon@councilonaoda.org

Can I change my registration?

 Yes, if you register for the half marathon and decide you would like to do the marathon, you can upgrade your registration.  Switching from the full marathon to the half is also acceptable, however there will be no refund in the registration fee difference.  Please contact msimon@councilonaoda.org for assistance.

Can we register as a team or group?

Yes, you may register with a group or team and each team member gets $5 off of the registration fee. Minimum size is 15 and all members must submit paper registrations together by mail to receive your discount.

Can I use a MP3 or other musical device?

Yes, but, if you choose to use one, we ask that you assist us in ensuring all participants are safe and that your co-participants have the opportunity to meet their individualized race goals.

Where can my family or friends stop along the course to cheer me on?

There are 4 great stops along the course that have parking available for spectators to stop and wait for you to pass.  See the map for more detailed information but the spots are:

Highway 67 in Campellsport at Water Station #5 near Mile 11

Hwy 28 in Kewaskum at Water Station #11

Hwy H in Kewaskum at Water Station #12 (Near Dairyland Seed)

Newark Avenue in West Bend at Water Station #14 (Near Lighthouse Lanes)

Should I stop to smell the flowers on the trail?

If you  do, please be careful!!  There are poisonous plants, such as poison ivy, along the trail.  We encourage you to follow the course and stay on the trail!

What about bugs?

Bugs also like to smell flowers.  Please remember your bug spray!

Will there be police at busy intersections?

There may be police at some of the intersections however, runners should NOT expect law enforcement to stop traffic and course volunteers are not authorized to stop traffic.  The majority of the course is on the trail however, when the trail crosses roads or when participants are off the trail the roads are OPEN and the rules of the road prevail.  Volunteers and law enforcement will assist you when possible but it is your responsibility to ensure your safety particularly when crossing roads or not on the trail. 

Is the course USATF Certifed?

Yes!  Our certification # is WI-10026-DM.  This also means that the Eisenbahn Marathon is a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon!

Can I have someone run with me as a Pacer?

Sorry, only registered participants are eligible to run on the course during the event.

Can I use my time in the Eisenbahn Marathon to try to qualify for the Boston Marathon?

Yes, the Eisenbahn Marathon is USATF Certified which makes it a Boston Qualifier!

Will there be gear check available?

Yes, you can check gear at your starting line and it will be returned to the finish line area.  Please make sure you mark your bag with the bib number sticker provided in your registration packet.  We cannot guarantee that gear left at a water station will be returned to the finish line by the time you complete the race.  We will hold any unclaimed property for 14 days after the event.  Contact msimon@councilonaoda.org
