Welcome
Although the unseasonable weather was nothing our 2009 triathletes were thrilled about, they appreciated the opportunity to participate in a well organized event in beautiful Washington County, Wisconsin!
The course started in Little Cedar Lake, where the water is deep enough to swim but shallow enough for most to stand with their heads above the water. The participants took to the 1/4 mile course in a time trial start that allowed each swimmer to enter into the water individually, seconds behind the preceding swimmer, rather than in a chaotic group start. The participants then took to the bike course that traversed through the scenic Cedar Creek area and around picturesque Little Cedar Lake. The bike course was just hilly enough to keep things interesting! After completing the bike course, the participants finished the event with a mostly flat 5K run. Throughout the race, participants were cheered on by hundreds of volunteers and spectators and were treated to 1/4 pound Elk burgers (generously donated by Meadow Creek Elk Farm) and chocolate milk, among other healthy treats, at the finish line! This year, the triathlon is back (with warmer weather, we hope!)... but a week earlier to accommodate the addition of a marathon and half marathon being sponsored in conjunction with the Kettle Moraine YMCA!
That's right, thanks to the success of the triathlon and hearing an outcry from the community, we are offering a second endurance event in the Under the Influence of...Adrenaline series. The Marathon/half marathon will be (mostly) run on the Eisenbahn Trail and end in beautiful downtown West Bend - in the midst of Germanfest, the Farmer's Market and the Riverwalk Art Fair!
